The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but rather, 'Can they suffer?' - Jeremy Bentham Our Mission:Cats and Dogs International (CANDi) is a non-profit organization that saves the lives of stray cats and dogs in the Caribbean and Mexico through spay, neuter, adoption and educational programs, which is supported and funded by the tourism industry, travellers and pet lovers.
CANDi is a nonprofit (registered 501c3 ID #20-5299890) organization that brings tourism businesses together with local animal welfare groups to implement programs that humanely address the issue of cat and dog overpopulation in destination communities. Animal overpopulation not only has a negative impact on public health, environmental quality, quality of life, business, and image, but it also diminishes the vacation experience in destinations around the globe. CANDI's proven, sustainable programs are designed to expand and strengthen corporate social responsibility initiatives, while at the same time empowering local groups and communities to ease the suffering of homeless animals and end the cycle of overpopulation. CANDi programs are viable, long-term solutions to animal overpopulation that can be replicated anywhere in the world. As self-funding solutions, CANDi programs provide the resources necessary to address the stray animal issue in situations in which local governments and local animal groups would not be in a position to help. CANDi was founded by Darci Galati, a former travel executive with more than 20 years experience. CANDi is endorsed by top executives at Costa Cruise Lines, MSC Cruises, and Royal Caribbean Cruises. It is the only animal welfare organization endorsed by the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies. CANDi operations are funded primarily through public donations. Your financial support ensures that we can continue to provide prevention-based programs in communities that need our support.
