Alex Pacheco
Alex: was awarded the Crew Member of the Year Award by the Sea Shepherd Conservations Society (better know as Animal Planets TV series Whale Wars); was voted into the U.S. Animal Rights Hall of Fame; was awarded The Peace Abbey Courage of Conscience Award, for a year lived with seven Brothers and Priests studying to become a Catholic Priest in the Scholastic Program for Ecclesiastical Students at Ohio State University; is the founder of 600 Million Stray Dogs Need You, a non-profit dedicated to ending animal overpopulation using sterilization pills that can replace surgery and euthanasia as methods of population control; is the co-founder of the world's largest non-profit animal adoption website Adopt-A-Pet, with over 100,000 homeless animals and over 1,000 humane societies participating; is the co-founder of the world's largest animal rights organization, PETA where he served as Chairman for 20 years before leaving in 2000, during which time the organization was described by the New York Times as the animal movement's "mover and shaker"; as Chairman he was in charge of PETA's investigations, lobbying, litigation and fundraising; PETA currently generates $35 million annually with two million members.
