Sanctuary Evolución exists to promote the health and well-being of our environment, animals and mankind; to protect against violence and to cultivate a respect and appreciation for all living things; and, to ultimately strengthen the relationships and bonds that exist between man, animal and our environment. Evolución means to evolve, to change.  We are about change.

We have an animal shelter and sanctuary just south of Mérida, Yucatan on the road to Uman. We are home to more than 100 dogs waiting to be adopted. Evolución is more than a shelter. It is also a sanctuary for dogs who have been abused or mistreated. It is a home for street dogs "malix pek", many of whom will never be adopted simply because they are street dogs and not breeded dogs.
