Sue Urie originally aspired to become an artist or veterinarian but has been employed in the travel industry since 1973. She has worked in sales and marketing positions with leading airlines and tour companies which enabled her to travel extensively and interact with clients and suppliers throughout the world. She made the time to volunteer for numerous charities and committees as well as keep in contact with people she met and worked with over the years. Not long after September 11, 2001, the day that radically changed the tourism industry globally, Sue found herself abruptly out of work so she started a tourism marketing firm that attracted clientele from Canada, the USA and Mexico to use her expertise to build their businesses. In 2006, she joined Vacation.com, north America's largest marketing organization for independent travel agencies, to serve its members throughout western Canada.
Sue's lifelong passion has always been animals - specially cats - as they were more tolerant of her frequent absences. She has collected unusual cat ornaments for decades and even her Christmas tree has a feline theme. Sue presently shares her home with 3 cats, two adopted from the SPCA and the third was a starving and injured stray that had the good sense to stay permanently. Devoting time, energy, contacts and marketing expertise to CANDi allows Sue to combine both of her loves.
