Project Cancun
CANDi International has committed for 2008 to raise $200,000 for Project CANCUN. We will use the money to purchase land and residence and build Cancun's first spay and neuter and adoption facility. We urgently need a van to transport the many animals that we are rescuing and finding homes for everyday. If you or your company has a van that you can donate to Project Cancun please contact us.
We need your help. To start helping the dogs as soon as possible, we have leased a temporary facility and land for one year beginning (Jan 2008) at a cost of $600 USD per month. We are going to hire certified veterinarian who will work full time for CANDi, 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. Now that we have the location and facility, we need to start building the clinic. We need supplies to start doing this. Also, as a part of Project Cancun we are building an adoption opportunity, working with airlines to provide discounted or free transportation support for these adopted animals. We will have a photo gallery of pets to choose from.
None of this would have been possible had we not met MariaAlicia Salgado L. who is a wonderful woman. MariaAlicia has been working tirelessly and without thanks for years in Cancun, trying to help these animals and prevent the savage, inhumane treatment many of them endure. Her own home has dozens of dogs she has rescued and cares for. CANDi has partnered with MariaAlicia and her non-profit organization in Cancun called Respeta Ayuday Protege - RAP - which means in english Respect, Help, Protection. MariaAlicia will be the Operational Manager for Project Cancun.
CANDi is a US registered charity and will issue tax receipts for all US based donations. You can make your donation online through our donations portal or by mailing a cheque to CANDi – Cats and Dogs International. All donations will be used to support this first major project in Cancun, Mexico. The administrative, legal, marketing and other services are being donated by Friends of CANDi so we can report that 100% of your money will go in support of this wonderful project.
We will also be creating a quarterly newsletter to keep you informed about our work and other projects we will launch in 2008.
